Generally, problems uploading pictures are caused by one of two issues;
1 - Trying to upload the wrong picture format or file type.
Pictures must be in one of the following formats; .jpg, .gif, or .png.
To convert an image to one of these formats you can use a utility common to all current Microsoft operating systems called [Windows Picture and Fax Viewer], or another picture viewer of your choice.
To convert the image using [Windows Picture and Fax Viewer], browse to the image file location and [Right Click] the image file.
Then select [Open With] and select [Windows Picture and Fax Viewer].
Once the image is displayed in the viewer, click the [small blue disk icon] to convert and save the image.
A [Copy To] dialog will appear where you can save the picture under a new name and format.
At the [File name:] box, type the name that you would like to give the converted file.
At the [Save as type:] box, select the [drop down arrow] and select JPEG, GIF, or PNG. To achieve a minimal loss of picture quality we recommend JPEG or PNG.
Then select [Save]. You now have a file of the correct format to upload for your auction.
2 - Trying to upload a picture which exceeds our file size restriction of 512KB.
To reduce the size of your picture, open your picture using [Microsoft Office Picture Manager] or another photo editing package of your choice.
To resize the picture using [Picture Manager], select [Picture] from the top menu bar, then select [Resize…]. Other photo editing packages should have a similar resizing function accessible from the top menu bar.
A [Resize] dialog is displayed. Using Picture Manager, select [Predefined width x height:], then using the [drop down arrow] select [Web – Large (640 x 480 px)] and click [OK].
You may also select [Document – Small(800 x 600 px)], the goal here being to reduce the size of the image and therefore the file size to less than 512KB.
Other photo editors will have varying options for resizing a photo. Any resolution of 800 x 600 px or less is sure to reduce the file size enough to meet our 512KB image upload restriction.
Once you have resized your picture, you will want to select [File] from the top menu bar, then select [Save As] to rename and save the resized copy of your picture.
These are some general guidelines that you may find useful when rating the condition of your used homeschool curriculum and books.
Brand New - New, unread, unused and in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. No highlighting or writing on any pages or the cover.
Like New - Shiny, undamaged cover, all pages undamaged (no creased, torn, or missing pages), no writing/highlighting, no damage to binding (item is or could easily be mistaken for brand new).
Very Good - Doesn't look brand new but has no easily noticeable damage to the cover, all pages undamaged (no creased, torn, or missing pages), minimal underlining/highlighting of text, minimal identifying marks in margins or inside cover, very minimal wear and tear.
Good - Very minimal damage to the cover such as scuff marks or slightly bent corners, minimal wear to binding, majority of pages undamaged (minimal creases or tears), some pencil writing or highlighting of text (on less than 10% of the book’s pages), no missing pages (you would use it yourself, but wouldn't necessarily give it as a gift).
Acceptable - Some damage to the cover such as scuff marks, stickers, or bent corners, some wear to binding (but integrity still intact), some pencil writing or highlighting of text (on less than 20% of the book’s pages), no missing pages (book is beaten up a bit, but it works).
